World's Biggest Entertainment Community

Hi everyone -

You know, after looking at all the new shows being shown on the various media, ie: TV, movies, internet, etc., as an "old" person, I've noticed very few shows relating to us old guys. Now don't get me wrong, I don't see anything wrong with, drama, horror, comedy. music and the like, being performed by younger, good looking talented kids, but where have all the old people gone? It's funny in our American culture, the older generation is definitely the forgotten generation. Sad but true. Hide the old guys like we don't exist. Sad, because WE as the older generation have lots we can offer and teach the younger generation. Yes even acting. Case in point, I joined a website called "NBC Diversity", where the NBC network helps new ethnic and diverse talent, enter the entertainment field. A great idea by a great network. So I joined and I commented. And I commented. And I'm still still waiting for a response from the the big guys at NBC. The question I posed, was "how come you don't include older people as new talent. Giving older people the same opportunities as any other group?" Well you heard like I heard. Nothing. I would have to think, the networks don't see us "old"guys, as adding anything to their bottom line. Just like our culture in general. Hide the old guys.

Sad but true. And it's really unfortunate, because we all loose in that kind of atmosphere. I personally have a tendency towards comedy. And as an older person, I see lots of comedy in older people situations. I have a great idea for a weekly sitcom, but because of the current attitudes towards us older guys (and gals), find it quite difficult to advance that idea. But I keep hoping, that maybe, just maybe, somebody with good foresight, good humor and creative ability, might just help me get this vehicle launched. But like I said, WE are the invisible generation.

Hopefully, someone will take notice real soon, because father time is rapidly catching up with me. HELLLLP!
