- I am a radio DJ slowly turning to full time voice acting. I am currently the Program Director and midday host of a small market radio station in Ohio. I’ve been in radio for 20 years. I loved it and still do. It’s a fun job. But it but I think it’s time to move on to my next phase. Full time voice actor / actor / screen writer.
I consider myself an actor because I love movies and I love the “art” of acting and movie making. My first movie roll was as an extra (a Union Worker) in a low budget mob movie shot in Youngstown, OH called “Turn Of Faith”. I’ve done some plays before too. I was the waiter in a production of “Death Of A Salesman”. But my first love has always been…movies!
I admit, I haven’t watched as many movies lately because my daughter is 2 now. (Anyone with kids knows what I’m talking about. My daughter Paige will end up watching the same Elmo DVD 600 million times before I get a chance to watch a movie I want to see) But I think my daughter just might be an actress someday. It’s hard to explain but she has that smile, that glow, and that personality. All in good time though.
I've also written a few screenplays too. I’ve been writing screenplays since 1999. I never went to school for it but I’ve read lots of books on screenwriting and I have a vast collection of screenplay books. Published books that are actually the screenplay of the movie.
Finally, I believe myself to be voice actor first. Here’s why.
I entered a talent contest in Lima, OH last summer. (summer of 2008) When I went to the Regional competition in Cincinnati, OH Thanksgiving weekend, the talent agencies and judges liked me for my VOICE, not my acting. (Maybe its because I did my monologue and other reads with funny creative voices) I’ve done countless radio and TV commercials through out my career. I’ve done radio imaging for a few Internet stations and radio markets. I want to get into movie trailers and cartoons next.
I still love acting and want to act! I also still want to write screenplays! But if my voice is what people love about me and my talent lies there, I should use what I got first. And then branch off. After all, most people know that Jim Carry is great at comedy. But he also tried his hand at drama a few times too.
Here’s to making new friends on this site. You never know. Maybe we’ll work on a project together someday. Or maybe I’ll WRITE a movie that you’ll be in. Or maybe I’ll voice the movie trailer to YOUR movie someday. You never know. It could happen!

I got an agent!
Here is some good news and bad news that’s happen to me in the past few weeks.
First, on Thursday Feb. 5, I was let go from my radio job of 3 ½ years. I started their doing mornings and then moved to middays (10am – 2pm). I was shocked to hear the owner fire me. But I’m sure it was due in part because I was the last one getting paid salary. Everybody else was getting paid a cheep hourly rate.

He's got that deep rich voice so he's going to try to take a stab at voice-over after everyone kept telling him to give it a shot!
